Description

MODIFICATION 1 IS TO CHANGE THE NOTICE TYPE FROM SPECIAL NOTICE TO PRE-SOLICITATION NOTICE. The U.S. Department of Commerce, NOAA intends to award a purchase order to Wartsila Lips, Inc., 3617 Koppens Way, Chesapeake, VA 23323 under the authority FAR 6.302-1 through Request for Quotation EA133M-06-RQ-0412. Only one responsible source is available to satisfy the agency requirement to fabricate (2) two gear boxes. The NOAA Ship Ronald H. Brown has two (2) each Wartsila Lips Thrusters for main propulsion. Wartsila Lips, Inc. is the only known source with design knowledge to replace their thrusters. Interested persons may identify their interest and capability to respond to this requirement. This notice is not a request for competitive proposals. All information received by 4:00 p.m., EST, 04/24/06 will be considered by the government. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed acquisition based on responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the government. Information received will be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement in the future. Responses to this notice, if any, must show clear and convincing evidence that competition would be advantageous to the government.
