- Description
- Contract Care Coordination Demonstration Industry Day Announcement To execute the requirements of Public Law 109-114, the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Veterans Health Administration’s (VHA) Chief Business Office (CBO) is hosting an Industry Day forum to initiate partnership support with Industry and Academia to implement care management strategies that have proven valuable in the broader public and private sectors. VHA CBO’s mandated goal is to establish at least three managed care demonstration programs designed to satisfy a set of health system objectives related to arranging and managing care by the end of calendar year 2006. To that end, VA needs to formulate demonstration objectives in collaboration with industry and academia. To be successful in those objectives it is essential that care purchased for enrollees from private sector providers be secured in a cost effective manner, in a way that complements the larger VHA system of care, and preserves important agency interest, such as sustaining a partnership with university affiliates. As a result of that collaboration, industry partners will be given the opportunity to bid on multiple competitive awards that include the designs incorporated through public-private participation. And Academic Partners will have the opportunity to actively participate on VA Executive Steering committees that will significantly improve health care management strategies. The Request for Information/collaboration phase of this acquisition will be conducted in accordance with Federal Acquisition Regulation 15.201(b) where ”the purpose of exchanging information is to improve the understanding of Government requirements and industry capabilities, thereby allowing potential offerors to judge whether or how they can satisfy the Government’s requirements, and enhancing the Government’s ability to obtain quality supplies and services, including construction, at reasonable prices, and increase efficiency in proposal preparation, proposal evaluation, negotiation, and contract award.” The Contract Care Coordination Demonstration final acquisition approach will be determined and announced after evaluation of Industry recommendations. Known factors are that the acquisition shall have provisions to conduct at least three managed care demonstration programs designed to satisfy a set of health system objectives related to arranging and managing care, be comprehensive in scope, and serve a substantial patient population. Contract Care Coordination Industry Day will be held at Hyatt Regency Crystal City, Reagan National Airport, 2799 Jefferson Highway, Arlington, VA 22202, on ___February 2, 2006 , at _1:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. EST. Registration will begin two hours prior to the event. Participants are encouraged to pre-register by e-mailing the names of participants and company affiliation to Donald.Monaco@va.gov .
