Description
The Agency of Health Care Research and Quality (AHRQ), through the General Acquisitions Branch (GAB), Program Support Center (PSC), intends to award a 24 month sole source contract using simplified acquisition procedures to the Society of General Internal Medicine, 2501 M Street, NW, Suite 575, Washington, DC 20037. The anticipated date of award is 5/22/2006. The purpose of this project is to develop a special supplement focusing on innovative uses of information technology to advance the quality and efficiency of health care and medical education. The contractor shall be responsible for but not limited to the following: The proposed special issue will be approximately 110 pages in length, consisting of approximately 10 original research articles, as well as brief reports and innovations. These articles will be solicited through an open call for papers, advertised by the Society of General Internal Medicine, and by email through HIT-related organizations and distribution lists. Commentaries will also be invited from leading national and international experts. Categories in which manuscripts will be sought shall include (but not limited to): structure and use of electronic medical records in health care delivery and medical decision-making; computer-based physician order-entry; use of stored data for patient management, quality improvement, and knowledge discovery; new platforms for data input and retrieval (e.g., portable and wireless devices); use of information technology medical education; use of information technology to support continuing medical education. Once the manuscripts are received, the contractor will review, edit, and manage all aspects of editorial production in a format that is compatible with that of other JGIM supplements. AHRQ will be acknowledged with the following text, printed under the table of contents on the front cover: ?Supported by the Agency for Health Care Research and Quality.? Issue the call for papers - deliver one copy of the announcement to the Project Officer via email. Due Date - 12/1/2006 Complete review of manuscript submissions deliver a list of manuscripts received that includes title and author to the Project Officer via email. Due Date - 7/1/2007 Acceptance/rejection of manuscripts - deliver a list of manuscripts accepted for the supplement that includes title and author to the Project Officer via email. Due Date - 8/15/2007 Edit, typeset and proofread manuscripts complete. Due Date - 12/15/2007 Introduction and editorials complete deliver introduction to the Project Officer via email. Due Date - 1/30/2008 Deliver camera-ready manuscript to the Project Officer. Due Date - 5/1/2008 The proposed simplified acquisition is for services for which the Government intends to solicit and negotiate with only one source Under authority of far 6.302. Interested persons may identify their interest by responding to the requirement within 10 days after the date of publication of this notice. A determination by the government not to compete this proposed simplified acquisition based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the government. Information received will normally be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement. No solicitation is available.
