Description
The Marine Corps Systems Command, Quantico Virginia, has a need for a Non-Developmental, expeditionary power sources to supplement the BA5590 lithium battery with alternatives that provides greater energy at a lower carrying weight. A Request For Information (RFI) was released on 9 February 2005 seeking small format, non-hazardous, Magnesium-Air-Water batteries. The results of the RFI revealed that a domestic capability to meet the United States Marine Corps' needs using a non-developmental battery system does not exist. However, the results of the Capability Assessment did indicate foreign battery systems could meet the requirements. The Marine Corps Systems Command, Quantico Virginia intends to procure approximately $100,000.00 worth of battery systems as part of a Foreign Comparative Test (FCT), with each of the following two companies: MAG Power Systems, Inc. Vancouver and B.C. MEET Co., LTD (Korea). This effort will procure systems to test in an operational environment from each vendor to enable a Foreign Comparative Test (FCT) to be conducted. The points of contact for this effort is Captain Juan Arratia at Juan.Arratia@usmc.mil.
