Description
This is a combined synopsis/solicitation for commercial items prepared in accordance with the format in FAR Subpart 12.6, as supplemented with additional information included in this notice. This announcement constitutes the only solicitation; quotes are being requested and a written solicitation will not be issued. This is a request for quotes (RFQ). Order will be made in accordance with FAR Part 13: Simplified Acquisition Procedures. It is the responsibility of all interested offerors to monitor the solicitation for any possible amendments and changes. This RFQ incorporates all provisions and clauses in effect through Federal Acquisition Circular 05-09 April 19, 2006. This solicitation is for all businesses, and the applicable NAICS code is 541990, All Other Professional, Scientific, and Technical Services. Statement of Work: CLEAN/REPAIR/REFURBISH BONES: Services will include but not be limited to: CLEANING Examine every bone Clean Abrasives are not used because of possible damage to bone. REPAIR Skull A thorough examination of each part of the skull is made for cracks, breaks, strains, fragments, i.e., and the unusual problems. An attempt to close/reinforce/rebuild/correct such findings through the use of a self-curing material mixed with a low exothermic reactive agent is used. Other materials used to reinforce are glues/bonding agents, springs, etc., which add additional bonding to the bone area needing reinforcement. Calvarium is to be glued/ reguled for adhesion to skull. Teeth are reinforced with bonding agents/glue agents to retain teeth in mandible/maxilla. Upper Extremities and Lower Extremities A thorough examination of each bone/extremity is examined for cracks, breaks, strains, fragments, i.e., and unusual problems. Materials used to reinforce are glues/bonding agents, wires, rods, springs, etc., which add additional bonding/support to bones and areas needing reinforcement. Rib Cage/Cartilage Repairs to the ribcage/cartilage can be extensive. Bone areas are built up with the self-curing material, hung and left to harden overnight. After an overnight drying/hanging process, the ribs/bones covered with the new materials are sanded and prepared for the next step which is painting/labeling. Hands and Feet A thorough examination is made of hands and feet; they are disassembled and reinforced with the self-curing material. Bones of the feet/hands are drilled/restrung/rewired as necessary and, where available, replacement bone will be used. REFURBISH BONES- PAINT/LABEL After the skeletal bones are cleaned and repaired, where necessary, on the articulated hanging skeletons, labeling/painting will occur. Acrylic paints are used in the painting process with a clear transparent overlay to protect the labeling. REFURBISH CASES Clean with vacuum method; wipe clean with mild disinfectant cleaning agent both exterior and interior. Lining to be reguled where separation is occurring. Replacement of hardware, determined on case by case basis. Due to age and condition of cases, replacement hardware may not be available; however, if available, an attempt will be made to purchase and replace. REPLACEMENT ITEMS Replacement items considered normal wear and tear will be approved by COR before proceeding with replacement purchase. These purchases will be billed at cost plus a 10% markup Not To Exceed $1,000.00 over the life of the contract. SAFETY INFORMATION Because of the hazard of inhaling chemical agents used in all of the restoration processes, as noted above, masks (oxygen breathing equipment) will be used when necessary to minimize the inhalant hazard. Work area must have adequate ventilation. TRANSPORTATION Contractor will coordinate all pick ups and deliveries with COR. Contractor will be responsible for all costs incurred for pick up and deliveries made under this contract.
