- The Marine Corps Systems Command (MARCORSYSCOM) is seeking market research, potential sources, and best practice information towards designing, developing, and buying a replacement item to provide extreme cold weather soft shelters (tents) for possible use in support of Marine Corps Artic Operations. NAICS Code 314912. Currently, the Marine Corps employs the use of the 10 Man Artic tents, 1949 ? 1950 design, fabricated in accordance with Mil-DTL-12354G. This potentially new shelter will be primarily used for base camps in extreme cold weather conditions. The Marine Corps most desirable attributes for a possible shelter are outlined: a) Materials meet flame spread Federal Standard 191A, Test Method 5903.1 or ASTM-D6413-99; b) Operate in a minimum of -35 degrees F., prefer -70 degrees F.; c) Withstand high winds, preferably 70 mph. or more; d) Increase in floor space from the above noted legacy (199 sq .ft.) 10 man tent to a 13 man tent; e) Reduction in weight and! packed cube from the above noted legacy system (76 lbs, 7.3 cu. ft. respectfully); f) Possess an interior ?water vapor permeable? liner. Other desirable features include: a) Waterproof exterior fabric preventing exterior canopy from water soaking and freezing; b) Compatible with the current Space Heater Arctic (NSN: 4520-01-444-2375); c) Removable optional fabric floor; d) Reversible fly/exterior cover (white and woodland green); e) Windows for light (screens on windows for four season use); f) Meet blackout requirements; g) Two hatches that can interconnect tent to tent; h) Mildew and fungal resistant; i) All poles identical; j) Supplied with a field expedient repair kit. Vendors who believe they have a product capable of meeting this requirement are requested to provide product literature, brochures, price lists, warranty coverage, business size and any other relevant information. Quantity and funding availability are unknown at this time. The Berry Amendment will apply to any contractual instruments that may result regarding these r esponses.
