Description
NAICS Code: 334516 The U.S Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) intends to procure, on a sole source basis from Waters Corporation of 34 Maple St. Milford, MA 01757, the following laboratory equipment: Item #1: 1 EACH: Product No. 186003250: Quattro Premier XE Tandem MS/MS The Quattro Premier XE is a tandem quadrupole mass spectrometer configured for integrated HPLC-API-MS-MS, providing molecular weight information, structural information and quantitative analysis for a wide range of compounds. The following items are included as part of the standard system: a) Z SPRAYTM API INTERFACE Atmospheric pressure ionisation (API) HPLC interface that includes the source and spraying elements. These are visible through the windowed source enclosure and the source elements may be easily removed for cleaning, without breaking vacuum. The nebulized spray is positioned vertically, with the sprayer orientated orthogonally and positioned off axis for maximum source longevity and analyser protection against 'dirty' samples. Positive and negative capability is included. All source voltages are under data system control. The source also includes facilities for declustering ions formed at atmospheric pressure (cone gas). The source can be operated in positive and negative ion modes. All source voltages are under data system control. b) SOURCE ION TRANSFER OPTICS A high efficiency, travelling wave device serves as the ion guide between the source and the analyser. c) TANDEM QUADRUPOLE ANALYSER A high performance, tandem quadrupole mass analyser, with inter-element beam focusing having a mass range of 2-3000 amu. Comprising: Two quadrupole mass analysers (mass selective devices). Pre-filters are fitted to the mass analysers to maximise resolution and transmission. The pre-filters also eliminate the need for cleaning of the quadrupole mass analysers. Two solid state RF generators. All lens and analyser voltages are digitally controlled. Analyser parameters may be programmed with respect to mass for optimal performance. Analyser parameters used for data acquisition are automatically recorded and appended to the relevant data file. d) T-WaveTM COLLISION CELL The collision cell is a high efficiency travelling wave device with beam focusing at cell entry and exit. Collision energy and travelling wave are digitally controlled. Collision cell gas pressure is directly monitored in the range 10-4 to 1 mbar. Collision gas pressures used during data acquisition are automatically recorded and appended to the relevant data file. Collision gas introduction and pump-out, and flow all are computer controlled. e) DETECTOR The Quattro Premier XE incorporates a new low noise WhisperTM dynolite photomultiplier detector. The detector is positioned after the second analyzer. A high voltage conversion dynode and high voltage phosphor are positioned at 90 degrees to the analyser for the elimination of neutral noise. The WhisperTM detector features novel, integral focusing optics, which provides a detection efficiency approaching 100% for single ions. The photomultiplier is enclosed in its own vacuum envelope for long life. The detector operates in both positive and negative ion mode, which can be switched rapidly under MassLynx digital control. The detection system has a digital dynamic range of 4x10e6. f) VACUUM SYSTEM Clean, differentially pumped, automated vacuum system comprising: Three air-cooled Edwards EXT255H turbomolecular pumps evacuating the source & analyser, eliminating the need for water chillers. One E2M28 rotary pump (or an optional XDS35I Scroll pump) for backing of the turbo pumps. Vacuum read backs and system vent/pump cycles are digitally monitored and controlled, to provide total software control and ensure fail-safe operation in the event of power failure. A turbo pump is fitted with an electromagnetic vent valve. A Pirani gauge is fitted to the collision cell for gas pressure monitoring. A Penning gauge is fitted to the analyser to monitor the vacuum. g) MASSLYNX SOFTWARE The MassLynx workstation and software for instrument control, data acquisition and processing must be ordered separately (See MassLynx Acquisition System Options section for part numbers and descriptions) Post acquisition processing and general data manipulation can be carried out by an additional computer workstation and software installation (See the MassLynx Process-only Workstations section of the MassLynx Variant configurator 176706000). The standard system does not include the following items, which must be specified separately: Additional inlet probes and ion source options (detailed below). Acquistion PC data system and monitor; Additional Workstation data system terminals; Printers; Additional MassLynxTM options (detailed below); Vacuum backing pump options (Edwards rotary or scroll pump); HPLC systems or other inlet options. Item #2: 1 EACH: Product No. QP-ROTARY: E2M28 Rotary Pump An Edwards rotary pump required for backing the turbomolecular pumps that maintain source and analyser vacuum. Item #3: 1EACH: Product No.176001113 MassLynx 4.1,M51 & XP Quattro Premier XE MassLynx 4.1 Application Software. Multitasking suite of analytical applications and instrument management software operating in Microsoft Windows environment, featuring graphical user interface with multiple windows MassLynx includes: Mass Spectrometer Control Software Mass Spectrometer Control Software contains a comprehensive set of applications software for the Quattro Premier. a) Data acquisition formats. Scan data can be acquired to file in the following formats: Centroided data acquisition. Profile data acquisition. Multi Channel Analysis (MCA) data acquisition. b) MS and MS-MS acquisition functions. The following data acquisition functions are available: MS scanning; MS selected ion recording; MS-MS precursor ion scanning (parents); MS-MS product ion scanning (daughters); MS-MS neutral loss/gain scanning; MS-MS multiple reaction monitoring; Data directed switching (automated MS to MS-MS scan function switching); Polarity mode switching. c) Tuning utilities. Fully software supported instrument tuning via an interactive graphics display window allowing control of: MS and MS/MS switching; Ionisation mode and polarity; MS and MS/MS acquisition; All ion source parameters; All lens voltages; MS1 resolution; MS2 resolution; MS1 ion energy; MS2 ion energy; Dynamic scanning of collision cell energy and key lens voltages; Photo-multiplier gain; Fully software supported auto-tuning facilities; Automated mass calibration routines. d) Control of external equipment The system is capable of interfacing with HPLC equipment and other external devices: Inlet Control Software (LC and GC, from multiple vendors); Spectrum Review and processing; Chromatogram Review and Processing; LC and/or GC Quantitation for chromatographic analysis; 3-D Contour plotting; Spectral library search facilities (user defined or commercial libraries); OpenLynx Application Manager; OpenLynx Processing provides summary reports for groups of samples; OpenLynx methods may be; configured to include: 1) Analytes found/not found. 2) Purity, 3) Probable elemental composition (with Exact Mass Measurement Instrumentation), 4) Chromatograms, 5) Spectra. OpenLynx reports are portable and may be viewed (read-only) with optional browser utility without MassLynx software; and QuanLynx Application Manager.
