- Description
- The National Institutes of Health (NIH) intends to negotiate and award on a sole source purchase order utilizing simplified acquisition procedures to American Science & Engineering, Inc., 829 Middlesex Turnpike, Billerica, MA 01821, for service and maintenance for microdose X-ray inspection. The requirement consists of the following: 1. The contractor shall perform two (2) scheduled major preventative maintenance Inspections on each of the two NIH owned Model 66Zplus Backscatter X-ray devices. The schedule of major preventative maintenance (dates and intervals) shall be by mutual agreement between the contractor and the NIH Project Officer. The contractor shall perform preventative maintenance including cleaning, testing, minor repair, operational and reliability engineering changes, reviewing diagnostics, and calibrating and lubricating the equipment. The contractor shall supply and install minor replacement parts during scheduled major preventative maintenance at no additional cost to the Government. The contractor shall provide the NIH Project Officer with a written report that summarizes each scheduled maintenance procedure before leaving the worksite. 2.The contractor shall perform unscheduled maintenance (repairs) including exchange parts (new or refurbished including X-ray tubes and labor at no additional cost to the Government. 3. The contractor shall assure that all X-ray equipment continues to meet all manufacturer?s specifications after performing major preventative maintenance and unscheduled maintenance procedures. The contractor shall provide the NIH Project Officer with a written report that summarizes each unscheduled maintenance service procedure before leaving the worksite. 4. The contractor shall be permitted to combine scheduled major preventative maintenance with unscheduled maintenance at the option of the NIH Project Officer. 5. The contractor shall arrange for unscheduled maintenance call within 24 hours of receiving a call from the Project Officer. 6. The contractor shall maintain records of all scheduled and unscheduled maintenance calls at his office location and shall make these records available to the NIH Project Officer by phone for discussion and shall provide permanent records by email or fax. 7. The government will provide maintenance access to all X-ray equipment at a time and date of mutual agreement with The NIH Project Officer and the service technician. 8. The period of performance shall be for one year from the date of award. It is the government?s belief that these requirements may only be met by American Science & Engineering, Inc. This is not a formal solicitation; however, concerns that respond to this notice must furnish concise responses directed specifically to the requirements mentioned above. Sources demonstrating the capability to accomplish the above shall supply pertinent information in sufficient detail to demonstrate their ability to perform. Information furnished shall include enough material to perform a proper evaluation. Respondents will not be notified of the evaluation results
