- This is a combined synopsis/solicitation for commercial items prepared in accordance with the format in Subpart 12.6, as supplemented with additional information included in this notice. This announcement constitutes the only solicitation; quotes are being requested and a written solicitation will not be issued. Responses reflecting availability of the product as described are requested in the form of a quote. This requirement is a small business set-aside. The NAICS code is 334119 with a small business size standard of no greater than 1,000 employees. The due date for proposals is Tuesday, May 30, 2006 at 2:00 p.m. Eastern time. Quotes shall be submitted electronically to cconverse@psc.gov. The Department of Health and Human Services requires 10(ten) HDTD-8200 Hard Drive & Media Degaussers for the Office of Inspector General in an effort to securly erase data from computers. BRAND NAME JUSTIFICATION: Due to HIPAA's requirement to securely erase data from computers, it is necessary for OIG to purchase the HDTD-8200 degausser. This degausser meets HIPAA's and OIG's requirements. OIG utilizes software that is approved by Department of Justice to securely erase data. The degausser is a safe, secure means to erase data even if the hard drive is not accessible by software. One degausser would need to be shipped to each of the following 10 (ten) regional office locations: Atlanta (Zip Code: 30303), Balitmore (21244), Boston (02203), Chicago (60601), Dallas (75242), Kansas City (64106), New York (10278), Philadelpia (19106), San Franciso (94102), and Washington DC (20201). This solicitation document and incorporated provisions and clauses are those in effect through Federal Acquisition Circular 2005-09. FAR 52.212-4, Contract Terms and Conditions-Commercial Items, applies to this acquisition and no addenda are included to the clause. FAR 52.212-1, Instructions to Offerors-Commercial, applies to this acquisition. Evaluation will be made based on lowest price, technically acceptable. In the event that offerors submit the same price quote, a best value determination will be used to determine the greatest value to the Government. Offerors shall provide firm fixed price quotes for this effort. All responsible sources may submit a quotation that, if timely received, shall be considered by the agency.
