- Description
- The Naval Air Warfare Center Aircraft Division Lakehurst, NJ intends to negotiate on a sole-source basis with Geo-Centers, Inc, of Newton Centre, MA for the acquisition of two (2) Chlorination/Dechlorination units. These units were developed to combat the build-up of marine biological growth in SSN688 and Trident Class submarine seawater cooling system components. This equipment is used to reduce the amount of hazardous waste generated from pressure wand cleaning of the heat exchanger tubes onboard the submarine. The Geo-Centers unit uses a special circuit specifically designed for Trident hulls to enable 24/7 operations. The AN/TSQ-218-01 Chlorination/Dechlorination Unit provides portability as it is fully transportable to the submarine via forklift and crane. Based upon Market Research, Geo-Center, Inc is the only manufacturer holding the rights to use this technology in a portable unit for military applications. The Government does not own sufficient data, drawings, or other specifications to permit full and open competition. This synopsis is issued for information only and is not a request for competitive proposals. Companies interested in providing an offer must be able to demonstrate in writing, by 30 May 2006, their capability to provide this equipment. Information received will be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed requirement based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government.
