Description
This amendment answers questions submitted to NIST. Two (2) questions were submitted. The questions are posted with associated answers after each question. Question 1) What is the working distance (autocollimator-to-target)? Is this distance fixed or variable (if variable, how much); Answer: Because the autocollimator will be used in at least two different experiment settings, NIST expects the working will be different from 2cm(~1 inch) to 30cm(~12 inches). The autocollimator shall have the angular resolution 0.05 arc second or better at working distance of 15cm(~6 inches) Question 2) What is the size and finish of the target mirror? If none is specified, can a target mirror of 50mm diameter (minimum) and 1/10th wave flatness be used? Answer: NIST would like to use a mirror of size in 2.5cm (or less) diameter. Sometimes the metal square gauge block may be used as the target (roughness [Rq] 2 to 4nm) to reflect the light.
