- Description
- This amendment answers questions submitted to NIST. Two (2) questions were submitted. The questions are posted with associated answers after each question. Question 1) What is the working distance (autocollimator-to-target)? Is this distance fixed or variable (if variable, how much); Answer: Because the autocollimator will be used in at least two different experiment settings, NIST expects the working will be different from 2cm(~1 inch) to 30cm(~12 inches). The autocollimator shall have the angular resolution 0.05 arc second or better at working distance of 15cm(~6 inches) Question 2) What is the size and finish of the target mirror? If none is specified, can a target mirror of 50mm diameter (minimum) and 1/10th wave flatness be used? Answer: NIST would like to use a mirror of size in 2.5cm (or less) diameter. Sometimes the metal square gauge block may be used as the target (roughness [Rq] 2 to 4nm) to reflect the light.
