- Description W911KB-06-T-0032 Long-Term Wind, Wave and Storm Surge Climatology Project, Various Locations, Alaska CONTRACT INFORMATION: Under the authority of FAR 6.302-1 the US Army Corps of Engineers, Alaska District, will be intends to award a Purchase Order to Oceanweather, Inc. for assistance to perform the services described below. The Purchase Order will be a sole source under NAICS 541710. Award of the Purchase Order is anticipated for June 16, 2006. PROJECT INFORMATION: Typical types of services to be provided may include: Contractor must possess the skill, based on an expertise in the meso-scale meteorological modeling, skilled meteorologists, hardware, and software to digitize the pressure field s, incorporate other sources of measured surface data, and accurately interpolate over time and space necessary for a model implementation in the required time frame. The accuracy and timely completion of the current project hinges on the timely arrival of these wind fields, and their quality. The time constraint is severe. Oceanweather, Inc. has been found to be extremely rewarding in providing accurate wind fields in a timely fashion. The company is geared to face these impediments, and based on past work, has been the key ingredient in the success of these projects. In addition, wind fields for the past two (DMT and Barrow) projects in the Alaska domain will be use d as the basis of this project, slightly extending the domains in space and generating wind/pressure fields for the months (November through June) not included in the original work. Consistency in the methodology and technology is required for the generat ion of a long-term climatology. Any change in the wind, pressure, ice-field, wave and storm surge generation will be extremely detrimental to the development of the climatology. It is important that Oceanweather, Inc. be used for this work to assure the consistency of the data from the prior work (DMT and Barrow) with this new work, so the whole product is usable and accurate for the development of wind/wave climate across the entire west coast of Alaska. A determination by the Government not to compete the requirement based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government.
