Description
NAICS Code: 325414 Under authority granted in FAR 13.501, the US Environmental Protection Agency intends to seek a quotation on a SOLE SOURCE BASIS from Intralytix to construct a lytic bacteriophage consortium that is highly active against numerous strains of E. coli 0157:H7 and evaluate the ability of the E. coli 0157:H7 - specific phage preparation to reduce the number of viable E. coli 0157:H7 on hard, inanimate surfaces. This project involves the use of a lytic bacteriophage for environmental decontamination studies. The nature of this project requires a contractor that possesses the unique capability of rapidly isolating and characterizing lytic bateriophage targeted toward E. coli 0157:H7 and using the bacteriophage to decontaminate various building surfaces in proof of concept studies. Intralytix is the only known entity that has advanced experience in the use of bacteriophages in environmental decontamination. Experience in bacteriophage propagation, characterizaton, and application of the bateriophage for environmental decontamination study is considered essential to allow researchers to construct a multivalent bacteriophage ?cocktail' that can be used to decontaminate building surfaces. Intralytix, is the only known vendor that has experience with the use of bateriophages for decontamination studies. THIS NOTICE OF INTENT IS NOT A REQUEST FOR COMPETITIVE PROPOSALS. However, interested parties may identify their interest and capability and respond to the office identified above. Documentation must be received by June 2, 2006 in order to be considered by the EPA. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed contract based upon assessment of responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Information received will normally be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement. Interested parties should submit a written response to Matthew J. Growney by fax (513) 487-2107 or by e-mail growney.matthew@epa.gov to receive consideration for this contract. Telephone responses will not be honored.
