Description

The National Institutes of Standards and Technology (NIST), Acquisition Management Division, on behalf of the Optical Technology Division, intends to negotiate on a sole source basis under the authority of FAR 13.106(b)(1), with Pacer Components PLC, of Reading, Great Britain for four (4) Photon Counting Modules, and one (1) Quad Head Photon Counting Module. Sole source determination is based on the following: NIST currently utilizes Pacer Components equipment. The equipment being purchased are drop-in replacements to the existing equipment and must be 100 percent compatible. Pacer Components parts are proprietary and Pacer Components PLC is the sole distributor and sole manufacturer of the required equipment. No solicitation package will be issued. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive quotations; however, responses received by June 01, 2006 will be considered by the Government. A determination by the Government not to compete the proposed acquisition based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Information received will normally be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement.
