Description

The National Institutes of Standards and Technology (NIST), Acquisition Management Division, on behalf of the Manufacturing Metrology Division, intends to negotiate on a sole source basis under the authority of FAR 13.106(b)(1), with Chaparral Physics, of Fairbanks, Alaska for three (3) Infrasound Sensors with Calibration Reports. Sole source determination is based on the following: The National Institutes of Standards and Technology is currently researching and testing Chaparrals sensors to determine the uncertainty of the measurements made with Chaparral?s specific products and to assess the specific products operating characteristics, such as internal noise. NIST is testing certain specific characteristics in a program designed specifically for the testing of this equipment. Chaparral is the sole distributor and sole manufacturer of this equipment. No solicitation package will be issued. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive quotations; however, responses received by June 01, 2006 will be considered by the Government. A determination by the Government not to compete the proposed acquisition based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Information received will normally be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement.
