Description

THIS PROJECT WILL BE AVAILABLE FOR VIEWING AND PRINTING IN APPROXIMATELY 15 DAYS. The project consists of procurement of FS-14 Parachutes through an Indefinite Delivery-Indefinite Quantity (IDIQ) contract with one base year and one optional year. The U.S. Forest Service smokejumper program is in need of procuring FS-14 main parachute canopies over a two-year period. This action is needed to maintain adequate parachute inventories as older FS-14 parachutes begin to approach their 12-year shelf life or 100 jump service life. The FS-14 comes in 3 sizes, Small (28-foot nominal diameter, 620 square feet); Medium (30-foot nominal diameter, 710 square feet); and Large (32-foot nominal diameter, 805 square feet). The specific number of the 3 sizes will vary from year to year depending on the needs of the individual smokejumper bases. The FS-14 parachutes will be built according to Forest Service drawing MTDC-922, Parachute Assembly, FS-14, 5% Extended Skirt, Polyconical. Copies of these drawings will be made available to vendors at the time of solicitation. Due to proprietary considerations, patterns required to manufacture the FS-14 will only be given to the successful offeror. These patterns will be returned to the Forest Service at the end of the contract. The Forest Service will retain all rights in data and all other intellectual data rights on this drawing. The minimum number of FS-14 parachutes that will be procured in a given fiscal year is 25 parachutes. The maximum number of FS-14 parachutes that will be procured in a given year will be 250 parachutes. The total number, as well as the number of each of the three sizes, will vary from year to year depending on the inventory needs of the 7 individual Forest Service smokejumper bases. The delivery time for each year is not to exceed 180 calendar days from the time of award of all quantities. Delivery of finished parachutes will be made FOB DESTINATION (unless otherwise negotiated) to the USDA Forest Service, Aerial Fire Depot, 5765 W. Broadway, Missoula, MT 59808. NAICS Code: 314999.
