Description
The U.S. Department of Commerce, NOAA, intends to solicit for purchase of 250 each Sensor, Limit, Magnet, Honeywell P/N 121XK21-2, DMD Systems Recovery, Inc. P/N DMD0623-2; ASN: R400-2A1A1S5-2. This item is being purchased for the National Weather Service (NWS)/NEXRAD program, to be delivered to the National Logistics Support Center located in Kansas City, MO. The proximity sensor originally manufactured by Honeywell (P/N 121XK21-2), is no longer commercially available and a suitable replacement is required. The NWS/Radar Operations Center (ROC) and the NEXRAD Pedestal designer, DRS Surveillance Support Systems conducted an extensive market research for a suitable replacement Honeywell part but no replacement was found. The research determined that all modern proximity designs require an operating voltage in the 10-30 volt range. The WSR-88D antenna/pedestal is designed for a proximity switch that requires an operating voltage of +5 volts, +/-0.25 volts. Specific Technical Features: Barrel Size, Barrel Length, and Operating Voltage, Operating Point, Release Point, and Operating Temperature Range are all technical features that must be adhered to in order to be compatible with use in the NEXRAD Pedestal. The intended procurement is for supplies for which the government intends to acquire from only one qualified source DMD Systems Recovery, Inc. under the authority of 41 U.S.C. 253 (c) (1). The government knows of only one qualified source authorized to provide the items referenced. DMD holds proprietary drawings for a part equivalent to the Honeywell sensor referenced herein. This is not a request for proposals and there is no solicitation available at this time. The government reserves the right to solicit bids based on the receipt of affirmative responses to this notice or issue an order to DMD Systems Recovery, Inc., whichever is determined to be more advantageous to the government without further notice. The anticipated award date shall be within 20 calendar days after the date of this publication. Interested firms should submit in writing, its name, address, point of contact, telephone number, business size and a statement regarding its capability to provide the specified part or an equivalent part that is comparable in every aspect including form, fit and function. Also include the name, telephone number, and point of contact for businesses or other government agency to which it has previously provided the item. The NAICS code for this requirement is 335999. This requirement is considered a 100% small business set-aside. All contractors doing business with the Central Region Acquisition Division (CRAD) must be registered with the Central Contractor Registry (CCR).
