Description

This is a notice of intent, not a request for a proposal. A solicitation document will not be issued and proposals will not be requested. The National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA), Station Support/Simplified Acquisition (SS/SA) Branch on behalf of the National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH) intends to negotiate and award a purchase order on a sole source basis to Nova Medical Inc., Wilmington, MA for a Channel Spine Array for an MRI Scanner. Nova Medical Inc. is currently the only vendor capable of building and delivering a highly sensitive multi-element MRI antenna (RF coil), which is compatible with the General Electri 3 Tesla Excite MRI scanner in less than one year. The sixteen?element spinal array from Nova Medical is currently the only option (array with large number of elements > 8) available on the RF coil market for the purpose of imaging human spinal array. The unique design of this coil will benefit the imaging program at NIH. It will also allow for high resolution FMRI with sensitivity encoding (sense) technique to simultaneously study the human spinal cord, as well as the lower part of the human brain. The North American Industry Classification (NAICS) Code is 334510 and the Size Standard is 500 employees. The acquisition is being conducted under simplified acquisition procedures and is exempt from the requirements of FAR Part 6, Competition Requirement. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive proposals. Interested parties may identify their interest and capabilities in response to this synopsis. The determination by the Government not to compete the proposed contract based upon responses to this notice is solely with the discretion of the Government.
