Description

The U.S. Department of State (DoS), Office of Acquisition, proposes a sole source procurement from Motorola, Inc., Hanover, Maryland, for acquisition of various Land Mobile Radio (LMR) equipment and related accessories, for the Department?s radio communications involving diplomatic security, protection of life and property, regional functions, United Nations General Assembly functions, and other purposes. The contract will be an Indefinite Quantity/Indefinite Delivery type, with a period of performance of one base year and four option years. LMR equipment, which includes base stations, repeaters, mobile radios, and handhelds, must have Mobile Data Communication 1200 (MDC1200) signaling, Digital Encryption Standard (DES) capability, Advance Encryption Standard (AES) capability, UHF/VHF, and narrow bandwidth 12.5/25KHz programmable. The equipment must also be available in DES and AES with Project 25/Common Air Interface protocols, capable to be coupled with MDC signaling, capable of being coupled with Project 25, Over the Air Rekey (OTAR), and to function as a very robust and reliable communications system for overseas and domestic radio needs. Currently, the DoS has a wireless infrastructure built on MDC, DES, AES, UHF/VHF, at narrow bandwidth 12.5/25KHz, manufactured by Motorola. Domestically OTAR is utilized. The proposed procurement action is a follow-on to the existing contract with Motorola for acquisition of LMR equipment which is to be added to the Government?s existing equipment. DoS intends to issue a solicitation package on or about June 9, 2006.
