Description
The contractor shall provide construction services and materials required for the removal of existing concrete bridge deck, construction of two new reinforced concrete abutments, purchase and installation of a Timber Panel-Lam Vehicular Bridge and associated site work required to replace existing bridge KC-3 on Klingler Cemetary Road (Rd.1N) at the creek on the Midewin National Tallgrass Prairie in Will County, Illinois. Contractor shall furnish all labor, materials, equipment, tools, transportation and supplies, and perform all work required in accordance with drawings and specifications of the contract. Location of project: approximately 3 ? miles east of Chicago Road on Klingler Cemetary Road, on the Midewin National Tallgrass Prairie, Wilmington, IL. Project background information: The project site is in line with the existing roadway at the location where a previous bridge is located. Due to its unsafe condition, that bridge deck must be removed. The concrete abutments for this original bridge are to remain in place, but have also been determined to be in poor condition and are not to be used to support the new bridge in any way. The old abutments will remain in place and are not to be removed. The engineer has taken this into account when preparing the design of the supports for the new bridge. Project Summary Description: The Midewin Klingler Bridge Replacement project includes, but is not limited to the following general categories of work: 1) Removal and disposal of existing concrete bridge deck. Existing abutments are to remain in place. 2) Construction of new concrete supports for a new vehicular bridge. 3) Purchase and installation of a new Timber Panel-Lam Vehicular Bridge. 4) Installation of riprap for erosion control around the new structure and upstream bank stabilization. 5) Miscellaneous site work: approach grading, landscaping, seeding & mulching. The Technical Contact for this project is Robert Hommes, who can be reached at 815-423-6370. This solicitation will be advertised as an unrestricted procurement, as a firm fixed price, construction contract, under the Small Business Competitiveness Demonstration Program, using the sealed bidding format, and a 20% bid bond will be required. A price evaluation preference will be given to HUBZone concerns, if any apply. This solicitation will be available ONLY electronically at the Federal Business Opportunities (FBO) website: http://www.eps.gov/, on approximately June 9, 2006.
