Description
LASER ENGAGEMENT SIMULATION SYSTEM NNSA/NSO is interested in acquiring an engagement simulation system (ESS) for use in tactical training and evaluations of protective force members. This ESS must provide effective simulation of the firing and effects of actual weapons systems during training exercises. In general, the ESS shall consist of shooter weapons simulation system (i.e. a laser based communications channel mounted on government-furnished weapons) and a target effects system. The weapons/platforms to be simulated are M4 Rifle, 50cal Sniper Weapons System (SWS)], M240 & M60 machine guns and dismounted anti-armor weapons [e.g. Light Anti-Armor Weapon (AT-4 & RPG-7), vehicle detection systems which can be applied to various vehicles and a Man-Worn Detector System (MWDS). A reactive target system, stay-behind booby trap, hand grenade and claymore-type devices shall be available. A structural effects simulator is required which will provide responses that depend on targeting accuracy and the construction of the building. Sensors shall differentiate between hits and near-misses and provide positive local indication of a lethal hit. Vehicle and MWDS detectors shall support event storage, Global Positioning System (GPS) sensors and a replay/after-action review capability that enables a rerun of the exercise on a computer modeling system upon completion of the exercise. The procurement of necessary support items required to ensure the systems are operational, e.g. controller device, weapons alignment fixture, vehicle test set, etc., are included in this requirement. Equipment supplied must be compatible with the current family of MILES devices.
