- Description
- The Naval Surface Warfare Center(NSWCIH), Indian Head, MD. intends to award a Sole Source Contract to Veeco Metrology for an Atomic Force Scanning Probe Microscope. Veeco Metrology Group is the only vendor with extensive experience making scanning probe microscopes using Torisional resonance. They are also able to provide high-speed DSP and SPM-computer interface electronics that allow the fastest sustained throughput of data for scanning images at up to 3 frames per second. The nine 500 kHz and two 50 MHz analog-to-digital converters allow high speed sampling of the cantilever signals and multiple extra inputs for custom user experiments, that are capable of performing thermal tuning of cantilevers with sampling at rates up to 6 MHz. They provide OneScan imaging with more data points per scan line (>16,000) for the highest resolution available, which also allows images with up to 5k by 5k pixels, allows zooming on large scans while maintaining nanoscale lateral resolution without the need for repetitive smaller scans, and increased data acquisition with up to 8 simultaneous real-time and offline data channels. They are also unique in offering features like the Torsional resonance mode (TRmode?) imaging, the capability to perform microscopy tasks in a broad range of temperatures ranging from ?35oC to 250oC, and in controlled atmospherics. The applicable North American Industrial Classification System (NAICS) is 334516 with a size standard of 500 employees. The FSC code is 6650.
