- The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention intends to award on a sole source basis a purchase order to Elsevier Inc. located in Saint Louis, MO 63146. The purpose of this purchase order is to provide a renewal of a one year subscription for a Multi-Site Online Access to research materials and journal titles on the Embase database. There are 5,000 comprehensive pharmacological and biomedical journals and research materials located on the Embase database. Some of the comprehensive features of Embase include coverage of Drug Research; Pharmacology; Pharmaceutics, Pharmacy; Side Effects and Interactions and Toxicology, Pharacoeconomics; Pharmaceutics and Toxicology; Human Medicine (Clinical and Experimental); Basic Biomedical Sciences and Biotechnology, Basic Biological Research; Health Policy and Management; Public, Occupational and Environmental Health; Substance Dependency and Abuse; Psychiatry; Forensic Science; Biomedical Engineering; etc. This database is already subscribed to by the CDC Information Center Library. Elsevier provides the only source for a multi-site license that will provide access for all CDC/ATSDR staff. The authority for this sole source is FAR 6-302-1 (a) (2) ? Only one responsible source and no other supplies or services will satisfy agency requirements. The North American Industry Classification System Code is 511120. This notice is not a request for competitive proposals and no solicitation is available. However, firms that believe they can provide a multi-site access license for all the required books, journals and other materials need to submit written notification of interest and a statement of capabilities to the Contracting Specialist within 15 days from the publication date of this notice. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed action based on responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Information received will be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether or not to conduct a competitive procurement.
