- The Naval Surface Warfare Center Panama City (NSWC PC) intends to issue a sole source purchase order to Lockheed Martin Corporation, 9500 Godwin Drive, Manassas, VA 20110 for the acquisition of four (4) power distribution units, six (6) NavC2 server 1 disks, six (6) NavC2 server 2 disks, six 96) VMS server 1 disks, six (6) VMS server 2 disks, six (6) Unit 4 console disks, and six (6) console trackballs. The equipment and software will be used on the Navigation, Command and Control System (AN/SSN-2(V)5). It is a very new system that has just been installed at the Ingleside schoolhouse and USS Devastator this month. This procurement is sole source for the following reasons. Lockheed Martin is the sole manufacturer of this equipment and software. Currently, drawings or specifications are not available. The AN/SSN-2(V)5 system has already gone through and passed environmental and shock testing with these parts installed. Once a system is certified, nothing can be altered without further testing and approval from the Program Office. NSWC PC has been assigned as the In-Service Engineering Activity and tasked to procure interim support parts. This would prove costly in time and dollars to the government and to the mission. Use of another system may change or introduce new parameters that may be harmful to the AN/SSN-2(V)5 system. Therefore it is imperative that the equipment and software are acquired from Lockheed Martin Corporation.
