- CONTINUOUS WAVE SINGLE FREQUENCY (NPRO) LASER DIODE The solicitation number is FA8601-06-T-0093. The proposed contract is for the purchase of a continuous wave single frequency laser diode which the government intends to solicit and negotiate with only one source under the authority of FAR 13.106-1. The proposed source is JDS UNIPHASE. The supply being purchased is as follows: continuous wave single frequency laser diode 700 milli-watts, model #M126N-1064-700. The government anticipates a sole source award to JDS UNIPHASE for the following reason: JDS UNIPHASE is currently the only manufacturer of this type of continuous wave single frequency (NPRO) laser diode, if a different type of laser was used, the power supplies and spare parts could not be interchanged if one piece were to break. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive quotations; however, all quotations/responses received within fifteen (15) days of the issuance of this notice will be considered by the government. A determination by the government not to compete this proposed contract based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the government. Information received will normally be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement. Any quotation/response should be faxed to Robin M.
