Description
The National Cancer Institute (NCI) plans to procure on a sole source basis for the brand name or equal Precision X-Ray, Inc. for 1) X-Rad 320kV Irradiator cabinet, 2) Variable X-ray Beam Collimator, and 3) Installation and training, This acquisition will be processed under FAR Part 12, Acquisition for Commercial Items and will be made pursuant to the authority in FAR 13 to use simplified procedures for commercial acquisitions. The North American Industry Classification System code is 334516 and the business size standard is 500 employees. (I) The following salient characteristics apply to the Precision X-Ray irradiator 320kV: Shielded x-ray cabinet with viewing port, external dimensions: 77 inches H x 39 inches W x 40 inches D, weight 4,000 pounds. Internal dimensions: 40 inches H x 30 inches W x 34 inches D, Interior: type 316 stainless steel with adjustable shelf, cabinet shall meet requirements of Federal Regulation 21 CFR sub chapter J, 320kV High stability, high frequency x-ray generator, microprocessor control, 320kV metal ceramic Orthovoltage x-ray tube with filter collimator holder, and 4.5kW oil cooler. (II) The following salient characteristics apply to the Variable X-Ray Beam Collimator: 0-20cm x 20cm c-ray field size variable collimator, illuminated radiation/exposure field indicator and ease to use controls. Justification: The Precision X-ray unit is compiled of the aforementioned salient characteristics and components required in order for the NCI to continue research. The variable collimator for custom shaping of radiation fields is an absolute requirement for the radiation applications for the NCI.
