Description
THE FOLLOWING IS FOR INFORMATION PURPOSES ONLY. The U.S.Army Aviation and Missile Command (AMCOM) is seeking contractors that are capable of manufacturing rear aft gunner seats for placement on CH-47 Helicopters. Some of the requirements of the CH- 47 Ramp Crew Seat Requirements specify that seat will be positioned on the ramp to operate the aircraft's weapon system; seat must be adjustable fore and aft; seat must have a vertical adjustment; seat must be functional with ramp in the up position down t hrough the level position; seat must tilt fore and aft to provide postural stability for crewmembers and reduce probability of back strain and pressure points on thighs and buttocks; seat will have a quick removable feature and a maximum weight not to exce ed a one person lift standard; seat must allow combat soldiers to pass alone both sides when entering and exiting; seat must turn 360 degrees w/manual release and auto locking when in position with immediate locking positions of 45 degrees of rotation in b etween; seat will be able to immediately default to an aft facing crash locking position; seat design will meet the 5 percent female to 95 percent male Soldier population; seat must be secured with fastners that do not protrude outward from the seat that w ould cause tripping hazzards for crew and passengers; seat will be high enough or have headrest to prevent whip lashing; seat will not interfer with the helmet and night vision goggles battery pack; seat's restraint seatbelt will be 5-point single-handed q uick release mechanism that may be operated by either hand; seats will allow for operation of the weapon system through the full range of its motion while in the seated or standing position; seat must accomodate all current Aviation Life Support Equipment (ALSE) uniforms and configurations; seat will be of a rigid bottom and a rigid back design, whereby, two individual pieces are acceptable; seats will have cushion to provide support and will be fire resistant; seats will be capatible with aicraft flooring, Helicopter Internal Cargo Handling System (HICHS) and Ballistic Protection System (BPS). This item may require First Article Testing. No government furnished material (GFM) will be provided to prospective sources. Capable contractor's must be able to : (1) Demonstrate required capabilities, (2) Own or have access to required tooling and equipment, (3) Meet the Governments desired delivery schedule. Capable contractor's must communicate their interest and provide capability statement including synopsis of their abilities and past experiences of this or similiar type, in writing, preferably via fax or email, no later than 30 June 2006, on Contractor letter head.
