Description

This is a re-advertisement of HAR052029, Rich & Rocky Stewardship Project. The Bureau of Land Management intends to enter into a contract for the Rich & Rocky Stewardship Project with private persons or other public or private entities to perform services to achieve land management goals for public lands that meet local and rural community needs. The Rich & Rocky Stewardship Project is located 15 driving miles west of Merlin, Oregon off Exit 61 of Interstate 5. This project is an area of offsite pine planted during the 1950s. The project will be a five-year indefinite-delivery, indefinite-quantity contract, the purpose of which will be to perform a variety of services to remove offsite pine and thereby maintain or enhance the plant communities. Work includes pre-commercial thinning, commercial thinning, hand piling and covering piles, ripping roads, pruning roadside trees, and stream restoration work. Project goals include accelerating the development of late-successional characteristics in the residual stand while reducing stand densities, improving big game habitat, restoring streams, and reducing hazardous fuel levels, thereby reducing potential for catastrophic wildfire within the boundaries of the Grants Pass Resource Area of the Medford District BLM. The Rich & Rocky Stewardhip Project provides an integrated approach to stand management on forest stands of varying sizes, species and densities. These activities have been combined into one contract to take advantage of the efficiencies of having one larger operation meet multiple objectives. This solicitation will be posted electronically.
