Description

The U.S. Department of Transportation (USDOT), Federal Highway Administration (FHWA), intends to award a sole source contract to the National Academy of Sciences (NAS) under the authority of FAR 6.302-1, Only One Responsible Source. Under this contract, the contractor would be responsible for the following: 1) conducting an independent assessment on the current Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) standards development process; 2) making recommendations on how to expedite the development of standards; 3) identifying what types of support are needed for ITS Standards deployment such as training and guidance materials; and 4) recommending the role the USDOT should play in future standards development and deployment activities.
