Description

The work of this project is to abandon the Taylor Canyon Well in Canyonlands National Park. The Taylor Canyon well is currently seeping water from around the casing, into the side hill next to the well and is to be abandoned by a licensed well driller in the State of Utah, in accordance with Utah Administrative Code R655-4-12 (Abandonment of Wells). No water right numbers are known for this well. All work performed must be consistent with Utah State requirements. Taylor Canyon well is located from Moab take Highway 191 northbound to highway 313. Travel on 313 until you reach the Mineral Bottom/ Horsethief road. This intersection is about 23 miles from Moab and takes approximately 30 minutes. At the intersection, turn right and travel down the Mineral Bottom/Horsethief road which is dirt. At the bottom of the steep switch backs there is an intersection, bear to the left (south) onto the (4WD) White Rim trail road. Follow the White Rim road until the intersection of the Taylor Canyon road, which is signed. Take a left onto the road into Taylor Canyon, and the well head is less than a mile on the right and highly visible. The dirt section of road is approximately 21 miles and takes about an hour in a pickup truck. Total travel time, one way from Moab is estimated at 1.5 hours in a pickup. Road conditions are steep and narrow at times, with some overhanging rock. All bidders are highly encouraged to visit the site on their own time. No site tour will be held. A Request for Quote will be issued the week of June 19, 2006, to include the Scope of Work. The Product Service Code is S114; the North American Industrial Classification System number is 237110. The price range is between $5,000 to $15,000.
