Place two shovels full of gravel at the bottom of each hole. 2. Set posts in ground with 7 feet of the post exposed, and fill holes with concrete mix, and level pole. When the pole is firmly in position, build a mound around it to help eliminate water standing at the post base. 3. Slope the concrete slightly away from the post and round it off with a trowel. Tamp the concrete lightly to eliminate any air bubbles left in the mixture that can act as water pockets. Brace posts as necessary to maintain level and allow concrete to harden a minimum of 48 hours. 4. Posts are to be spaced no more than 8 feet apart. Set the 6 x 6 corner or end posts first. Then stretch a line from each corner or end post to align all 4 x 4 line posts in between. Tops of all posts shall be cut at a 45 degree angle to prevent water from standing and sealed with an EPA approved wood preservative. 5. Attach a top, middle, and bottom 2 X 4 rail to posts with appropriate fasteners. Posts are to be notched horizontally on the sides at least ? inches to accommodate / support the rails. The rails are to be toe nailed with screws into position. 6. The top rail shall be positioned at the bottom of the angle cut on the top of the post. The bottom rail shall be positioned 1 foot above the ground, and the middle rail centered between the top and bottom rails. No rail joints will be accepted between posts. Notches in corner posts are to be cut only big enough to fit the 2 x 4 rail and not cut through the entire width of the 6 x 6 post. 7. Attach fence boards to rails using galvanized or stainless steel deck screws. NO NAILS. Boards are to be spaced on the rail approximately every 3/8 inch. Tops of boards will be leveled and uniform the entire length of fence. In addition, the bottom of the fence board is to be positioned 2 inches above ground. b. Installation of chain link fence Fence Description: (8? Galvanized fence chain fence) Fence materials shall be: The chain fabric shall be 8 foot and 11 gauge or better. Posts: 15 gauge or better. 1.
