Description
Under the authority of FAR 6.302-1, the U.S. Army RDECOM Acquisition Center, Natick Contracting Division, Natick, MA intends to place a Firm Fixed Price, Purchase Order for a quantity of one (1) HiBall Wide Area Motion Tracker (w/accessories), with 3 rd Tech Inc. of Durham, NC. A determination by the Government not to compete with this proposed contract based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Information received will be considered solely for the purpos e of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement in the future. The system will be used to track the position and orientation of peripheral devices Soldiers will use to interact with virtual environments (VEs). It will also be used to update V Es in response to Soldier movement through the tracked space. Our major requirements are for a system that affords highly precise tracking of position (x, y, z) and orientation (roll, pitch, yaw) in a large area (256 square feet) at a high enough sampling frequency to ensure seamless interaction between Soldiers and the VE. The HiBall wide Area Motion Tracker. It will also be used to update VEs in response to Soldier movement through the tracked space. Major requirements are as follows: 6 degrees of free dom motion capture: 3 position (x, y, z) and 3 orientation (roll, pitch, yaw) " Sufficient resolution to track displacements of less than 1 millimeter root-mean-squared error (RMS) in position and 0.02? RMS in orientation" Update rate of at least 1000 Hz, Position accuracy of at least 0.5 millimeter RMS and orientation accuracy of at least 0.05? RMS, Latency (time required by system to sense displacements) of at least 1 millisecond, Tracking volume of at least 16 x 16 x 9.
