Description
The purpose of this announcement is to identify interested companies that have the capability to develop and manufacture the anticonvulsant drug midazolam in an autoinjector delivery system for use as an adjunctive treatment for seizures associated w ith nerve agent intoxication. The Department of Defense (DoD), through the Chemical Biological Medical Systems (CBMS) Medical Identification and Treatment Systems (MITS) Joint Product Management Office is seeking a Contractor for the activities associated with further development of midazolam as the Advanced Anticonvulsant System. The Government has already filed an Investigational New Drug (IND) application for a new indication for midazolam in an autoinjector and will be conducting a Phase 1 clinical st udy. The Contractor shall be responsible for conducting advanced development activities as well as, if necessary, selecting and managing Subcontractors, with the necessary capablility of conducting various activities associated with drug development in ma nners that are consistent with eventual approval by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) under the Animal Rule (Federal Register 67: 37988-37998, May 31, 2002; 21 CFR 314 Subpart I. This is not a request for competitive proposals, but parties int erested in responding must furnish in writing, a 1-2 page synopsis of their capability to accomplish the described work effort. Companies responding to this notice must provide complete contact information and type of firm (i.e., Small Business, or Service -Disabled, Veteran-Owned Small business, etc) Any information received in response to this Sources Sought Notice that is marked proprietary will be handled accordingly. This information may be submitted via mail, e-mail, or fax. All responses are to be s ubmitted by no later than 21 July 2006 in order to be accepted for review.
