Description

Pre-Proposal Outreach Conference in New Orleans, LA. We are looking for subcontractors that can provide services and products for repair and modernization of the Custom House Building in New Orleans, LA. DESCRIPTION OF WORK: shall accomplish to the maximum extent possible a secure building envelope; removal of damaged interior finishes and all other building elements to the maximum extent such that following the construction, interiors are more or less uniform throughout the building introducing where possible and where practical original floor to ceiling heights (tasteful exposure of new HVAC and electrical is anticipated); cleaning of terrazzo floors; removal of all abandoned pipes, conduits, wires, HVAC, plumbing, lab equipment/fixtures, etc.; replacement of electrical elements including lights where appropriate bringing the building into compliance with current electrical codes; replacement of damaged HVAC elements including air handlers, ducts, and controls in consideration of new room/corridor volumes due to revised floor to ceiling heights; replacement of plumbing system and fixtures; relighting and cleaning the marble hall; compliance with current life safety requirements (fire alarm, fire sprinkler, access, egress, ADA) to maximum extent practical; structural repairs; cleaning/repair stone and masonry paving various locations; plaster repair; repair first floor granite stair; resulting in a more or less cleaned up, dressed up warm lit shell to allow tenant improvements at the second design build phase (next project). The U S Custom House is a National Historic Landmark. This is not a historic restoration of the U S Custom House. However, all design and construction must be approved by the Louisiana State Historical Preservation Officer and the GSA Regional Historical Preservation Officer to insure the project has no adverse effect on the building. The conference will be held on Monday, July 17, 2006 from 1:00 P.M. until 5:00 P.M. at the World Trade Center, 2 Canal Street, 18th Floor in New Orleans, LA 70130.
