Description

The Social Security Administration (SSA) intends to negotiate a sole source contract with Universal Safety Response, Inc. of Franklin, TN for the installation of an energy absorbing Ground Retractable Automobile Barrier (GRAB) at the Harold Washington Social Security Center (HWSSC), 600 W. Madison St., Chicago, IL 60661. To improve security, the SSA is seeking to install a vehicle barrier system capable of stopping unauthorized vehicles from entering the building. Most barrier systems are stationary and provide no energy absorption. The GRAB system complies with K12 standards for stopping a 15,000 pound truck traveling at 50 miles per hour and greatly reduces the risk of occupant injury by employing an energy absorbing net to stop speeding vehicles instead of conventional fixed barriers. In addition, the GRAB system can be redeployed in a very short period of time without technical support or major repair. Information received will be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement. THIS NOTICE DOES NOT CONSTITUTE A SOLICITATION FOR OFFERS. A solicitation is NOT available and requests for copies of a solicitation related to this announcement will not be honored. A determination by the Government not to compete this requirement based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. The Government will not pay for any information received.
