Please note that any such evaluation criteria must be articulated in the solicitation to the extent required by such regulations and/or guidelines. One of the management strategies that are used by the Department's Humanitarian Information Unit (HIU) is to use hardware in the office that are the same or similar so parts can easily be exchanged between computers as problems occur and versions are kept standard. In 2005 the HIU purchased several Dell computers and have followed this trend in 2006 with the purchase of another 9 Dell computers earlier this spring. Recently the HIU have identified the need for additional computers and would like to purchase the same Dell computers that were started this year as part of the office hardware management strategy. The Dells used in the HIU office have proven to be reliable, but if there is a problem we can substitute the CPU with a matching a CPU and swap the hard drives between the Dells, thus reducing down time. This ease can only be achieved if the HIU office continues to purchase Dell computers. The HIU also uses Dell servers and have found that the service offered on all equipment has been very reliable. Using this hardware management strategy it is less costly to the Government to build upon and continue to use previously well functioning equipment than it is to introduce new manufactures. SHIPPING MUST BE FOB DESTINATION CONUS.
