The weir plate prevents flow through the lower 7" of the screen structure allowing room for the screen to roll. The screens shall provide a minimum flat flow-through-area of 8 ft2 based on gross screen area. The flat screen area shall have a minimum height of 38 inches measured from the top of the front weir plate and a minimum width of 32 inches. Each screen shall be a self contained unit. The units shall have a coated steel frame. The screen material shall be constructed of engineered Acetal polymer material or similar with slotted openings not to exceed 1.75mm wide by 20mm long. The screen material shall have between 32 and 42 percent open area. The water side of the screen shall be smooth to protect fish. All screen drive components and bearings shall be constructed of stainless steel or Acetal polymer to prevent corrosion. The screen shall be designed to withstand a two foot water differential between the front and back sides of the screen. All components and coating of the screen units shall meet requirements for potable water. The screens shall travel vertically up the front (water side) and down the back (discharge side). The screen material shall have front seals on each side and the bottom to prevent fish passage. No gaps between the seals and the screen material shall exceed 1.75 mm during the complete rotation of the screen. The screens shall have drive motors secured to the screen frames and mounted at a height above the screen guides. The screens shall be powered by a variable speed motor capable of delivering a linear screen speed from 0.5 ft/min to 2 ft/min.
