- Description
- 2006 CGN 9 & Ohio Class RCD Package Transporter Request for Information Description The Navy is seeking companies that have a rubber-tired, self-propelled modular transporter combination suitable for transport of large ship sections. Possible load sizes range from approximately 2,300 to 2,800 short tons, 51 to 54 foot width, 42 to 44 foot height, and 37 to 55 foot length with a vertical center of gravity at approximately 20 feet. Each load has four (4) loading points, two (2) on each side lengthwise. The distance between the two (2) loading points on each side is between 28 to 35 feet from the centerline of each point. Desired parameters of the modular transporter combination include: a) A maximum travel height of 8?-0? (inclusive of any auxiliary load distribution structure) b) A maximum load limit per tire of 23.5 kips (based on a tire pressure of 140 psi). c) A maximum width of the transporter of 44 feet (inclusive of any auxiliary load distribution structure). d) The ability to load and unload by raising and lowering the transporter while it is positioned beneath the load. e) The ability to transport the load over 26 miles of existing paved highways and gravel roads. f) The ability to level the deck along the transverse axis if required to maintain stability. g) The ability to transport the load and maintain stability over a route having a maximum grade of 7%. h) The ability to transport the load and maintain stability over a route having a maximum side slope of 6%. i) The ability to transport a load on a route with a transition between a grade of 0.5% and a grade of 7% where the length of the vertical curve is approximately 190 feet. j) When fully loaded, the transporter should have the capability of attaining a speed of at least 2 miles per hour on flat ground. k) The ability to start and stop on a 7% grade. l) The ability to pass an operational test while loaded to 125% of the maximum load. m) The ability to operate in all types of weather and environmental situations, such as rain, snow, dust and sand, cold and hot weather conditions. Interested sources should submit general arrangement drawings and a full description of the transporter and how it has been proved, through use, to be safe, reliable, and suitable for this application. The transporter description should include: a) Vertical and horizontal curve limits; b) Tractive effort; c) Maximum, minimum, and travel height measured from the ground to the top of any auxiliary load distribution structure; d) Operating speeds and modes; e) An operator cab, if so equipped; f) The operating and safety systems. g) The braking system. Submittals should be sent to Fleet & Industrial Supply Center Puget Sound, Regional Contracting Department, 467 W Street, Code 250NL, Bremerton, WA 98314.
