- The Social Security Administration (SSA) is seeking vendors who can provide Firewall Appliances for SSA?s Central Office Firewall and DDS infrastructures. For years SSA has successfully used, and continues to use, a Check Point based solution. SSA will continue to use its Check Point Firewall solution, leveraging its existing Check Point licenses. These hardware capabilities represent the original rationale for the establishment of SSA?s current architecture and must be accompanied by 5 days a week, 8 hours a day support with direct call into the manufacturer?s technical line. The components must provide the following: Firewall Appliances: The contractor must provide two (2) classifications of Pentium IV Firewall Appliances. Each classification of Firewall Appliance must meet the General Specifications below, and specific requirements attributed to each classification. A. General Specifications The Firewall Appliance must: 1. Use a UNIX based secure operating system. 2. Use Check Point Firewall Software version NGX . 3. Have full routing capabilities including Routing Information Protocol (RIP), Interior Routing Gateway Protocol (IRGP), and Border Gateway Protocol (BGP). 4. Be able to run a Dual Stack, Internet Protocol Version 4 and Internet Protocol Version 6. 5. Operate in a Proxy Address Resolution Protocol (ARP) environment. 6. Have 10/100 FX or TX interfaces or better. 7. Be able to support up to eight (8) separate Ethernet interfaces. 8. Support High Availability protocol. 9. Have Secure Shell (SSH) 1 and Secure Shell (SSH) 2 support built into the operating kernel. 10. Have Tripwire support. 11. Have online documentation help built into the operating system. 12. Have a certificate generator built into the operating system for Secure Socket Layer (SSL) certificates. 13. Have Logging and Reporting capabilities. a. The device(s) must be able to log IP Packets and system information, and either store them locally or send them to another machine. b. The logs must be capable of producing usable reports. 14. Have the ability to send alert e-mails. 15. Have a proxy server built in. 16. Firewall must be able to be supported by Nokia Horizon manager. B. Frontdoor Application Firewall Appliance (Hardware Specifications) ? The Firewall Appliance must: 1. Use an Intel-Based, rack mountable system. 2. Have a microprocessor that is Intel Pentium IV or better and operate at a minimum speed of 2.8 gigahertz (GHz) or better. 3. Have a minimum of 1 GB (gigabyte) of RAM, capable of expanding to at least 2 GB of RAM. 4. Have one (1) IDE based hard drive with a minimum formatted capacity of 40 GB. 5. Have four (4) integrated 10/100 FX/TX Ethernet Ports. 6. Have at least one (1) PCMIA slot for a modem. 7. Have one (1) internal PMC slot for a VPN (Virtual Private Network) Acceleration Card. 8. Have one (1) console port. 9. Have one (1) AUX port. 10. Support IPSO Software Strong Encryption. 11. Have an internal Flash Drive of not less then 1 GB. 12. Be able to support Radius for Authentication and Authorization. C. DDS Firewall Appliance (Hardware Specifications) The Firewall Appliance must: 1. Use an Intel-Based, rack mountable system. 2. Use an Intel Pentium IV processor (or better) and must operate at a minimum speed of at least 1.5 GHz. 3. Have a minimum of 1 GB of RAM, and be capable of expanding to at least 2 GB of RAM. 4. Have one (1) IDE based hard drive with a minimum formatted capacity of 30 GB. 5. Have four (4) integrated 10/100 FX/TX Ethernet Ports. 6. Have two (2) PMC slots for Network Interface Cards. 7. Have one (1) console port. 8. Have one (1) AUX port. 9. Support IPSO Software Strong Encryption. 10. Have an internal Flash Drive of not less then 1 GB. Any firm that feels they have the capability of providing an equivalent product off of a GSA schedule contract that meets the requirements listed above must respond, in writing, within 15 days of this notice. Responses must be specific as to the product proposed. Vendors may submit pricing data. This is not a request for proposal and the Government does not intend to pay for information submitted. The Government will not award a contract based on responses received; however, SSA will use this information to assess capable sources. SSA will not provide acknowledgement of responses received.
