Description
MULTNOMAH FALLS LODGE ROOF REPLACEMENT - The purpose of this contract is to replace the existing roof, gutters, flashings and appurtenances at Multnomah Falls Lodge. Multnomah Falls Lodge is located in the Columbia River Gorge National Scenic Area, Multnomah County, Oregon. It is approximately 30 miles east of Portland, Oregon, and can be accessed from Interstate 84 via Exits 28, 31 and 35. Multnomah Falls is the second highest waterfall in North America and one of the most significant tourist attractions in Oregon and Washington, receiving between 1.0 and 1.5 million visits annually. This site is home to the historic Multnomah Falls Lodge with amenities such as a restaurant, snack bar, and gift shop; a Forest Service Information Center; and boasts spectacular surrounding scenery all within a 30-45 minute drive of the Portland/Vancouver metro area. The site attracts both national and international visitors. Multnomah Falls Lodge is on the National Register of Historic Places and the entire site is within the Historic Columbia River Highway National Historic Landmark. Preservation of the historic character of the Lodge is of the utmost importance. Public access to the Lodge and to the Falls will be maintained to the greatest extent possible. Improvements will be scheduled and completed in a manner that minimizes interruption to the operation of the Lodge. Coordination with the Lodge concessionaire will be required during construction scheduling. Physical work on the Lodge will begin after the Labor Day Holiday weekend (September 5, 2006), with the work on the roofs above the main dining rooms beginning after October 1st. All work shall be completed, including final cleanup on or before October 31, 2006. This project is estimated to range between $100,000 and $250,000. Registration in the Central Contractor Registration is required.
