- This is a sources sought notice to determine the availability of potential small businesses (e.g., 8(a), veteran-owned small businesses, service-disabled veteran owned small businesses, HUBZone small businesses, small disadvantaged businesses, and women-owned small businesses) that can implement a Lupus Community Education and Awareness Outreach Seminar. Components of the national Lupus Educational Outreach Program include: (1) Discussion on Types and symptoms of Lupus; (2) Similarities of Lupus to other major diseases; (3) Consequences of Lupus; (4) Treatment of Lupus; (5) Lupus Triggers (Environmental and Biomedical); (6) Current research and clinical trials for Lupus patients; (7) Lupus Registries and how to participate in them; (8) Disparities in Lupus; (9) Coping with Lupus as a patient, parent or caregiver; (10) Support systems for the Lupus survivor and family members. The purpose of the seminar is to promote knowledge and awareness about Lupus, its symptoms, treatments and management, ongoing research for its cure and treatment, social services and legal benefits available to Lupus patients. The Lupus seminar format includes presentations by medical professional speakers, Lupus patients and/or caregivers, social services experts and legal advisors. Additionally, each seminar shall be interactive, ensuring that participants get linguistic, cultural, and educationally appropriate information. This is not an invitation for bid, request for proposal or other solicitation and in no way obligates the Government to award a contract. The minimum contractor requirements are: (1) Must have direct historical working partnership with the population group and community with whom seminars will be directed; (2) Must be able to demonstrate that historical partnership of the above; (3) Must have past experiences in the planning, management, and implementation of health education programs to a diverse minority and ethnic group; (4) Must demonstrate concept or knowledge of designing a health leadership training program for lay persons; and (5) Must have and be able to demonstrate working relationship with experienced and trained health professionals that will be available to lead discussions on Lupus topics identified. The North American Industrial Classification System (NAICS) code is 611710 with a small business size standard of $6.5 million. Interested parties having the capabilities necessary to perform the stated requirements may submit capability statements via email to sduggans@psc.gov. CAPABILITY STATEMENTS MUST DEMONSTRATE THE MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS OUTLINED ABOVE. Capability statements must also include the following information: company name, address, point of contact, phone/fax/email, and business size and status (e.g., small business, 8(a), veteran-owned small business, service-disabled veteran owned small business, HUBZone small business, small disadvantaged business, and women owned small business). Responses are requested not later than July 15, 2006 5:00 p.m. EST. Capability statements WILL NOT be accepted after the due date.
