Description
THIS NOTICE CONSTITUTES AMENDMENT NO. 4 TO THE COMBINED SYNOPSIS/RFQ FOR ANECHOIC CHAMBER BACK WALL RF ABSORBER UPGRADE. Companies shall acknowledge all amendment(s) in their quote. This notice serves as the official amendment to subject synopsis/RFQ and a written amendment will not be issued. The purpose of this amendment is to respond to a question posed to the solicitation. Question: What is the actual construction of the back wall, including all layers from the outside to the inside of the chamber? Answer: Starting from the outside and working in toward the chamber: (a) Flat sheet of textured, galvanized steel Corrugated sheet of textured, galvanized steel Sheet metal stringers Primary door frame consisting of the following 3 main components: (1) 24"x9.5"x1/4" steel vertical supports. Each of these vertical supports is made of a partially open rectangular hollow support section. Vertical supports stand alone at the wall edges but they are bolted back-to-back along the center of the wall. (2) Steel I-beam horizontal cross members connect the vertical supports. (3) 3"x3"x1/4" angle (L-shaped) steel members create a frame onto which the chamber panels are bolted. These 3"x3" angle members are welded to each other and welded to the vertical supports. The 3"x3" frame consists of both horizontal and vertical members so that each panel can be bolted in place. (b) Chamber back wall panels consist of 3/4" plywood sandwiched between sheets of 1/32" galvanized sheet metal. Panels are attached to the angle steel frame with bolts that are installed from the outside (bolt heads are against the frame, bolt shanks do not protrude into the chamber) The due date for receipt of offers is not extended. Companies shall provide the information stated in the synopsis/RFQ posted on the NASA Acquisition Internet Service (NAIS) on June 13, 2006.
