Description
The Food and Drug Administration intends to award a Purchase Order on a sole source basis to Xenogen Corporation for the purchase of an IVIS?-100 TE Series 100-240V imaging system. Xenogen Corp. is the only manufacturer of this unique imaging equipment. The IVIS?-100 in vivo imaging system is capable of detecting and monitoring bioluminescent bacteria within an infected animal using an intensified charge-coupled device (ICCD) camera. This will allow us to follow the progression of infection in individual animals while keeping the animal alive, and to extend the study over any time course desired. This will greatly increase the information obtained from our animal studies while reducing the number of animals needed, thus reducing overhead. The Xenogen IVIS? Imaging System Series 100 includes: 1.Spectra Instruments Cooled CCD Camera (or equivalent)-(CCD Operating Temperature: Nominal-90?C, CCD Size: 26 X 26 mm, Back-thinned, back-Illuminated Grade 1 CCD, 50 mm f 0.95 lens (or equivalent), field of view: 6.5cm X 6.5cm to 26cm X 26cm). 2.Camera controller. 3.Cryogenic refrigeration unit. 4.Gas anesthesia inlet and outlet ports for connection with gas anesthesia machine 5.Heated sample stage: Ambient to 40?C. 6.High performance acquisition computer and 20-inch, high resolution flat screenMonitor. 7.Control software including one (1) acquisition copy of Living Image? software 8.Two(2)analysis copy of Living Image software. 9.Operation manual. 10.Xenogen XFO-12 Fluorescence Module-(12-position excitation fiber wheel, 6-position emission filter wheel, autofluorescence background subtraction capability for minimizing autofluorescence-related signal to background issues, software-controlled excitation/emission filter selection for turnkey operation, top illumination for uniform sample excitation, 150-watt quartz halogen lamp, low autofluorenscence fused silica fiber bundles, XFO-12 filter sets. 11.Xenogen XGI-8 Gas Anesthesia Module-(isoflurance vaporizer with independent Flow control for proper gas delivery to induction chamber and the IVIS? Imaging System imaging chamber, isoflurance-absorbing disposable charcoal filters to absorb excess gas, as well as limit gas escaping into the surrounding laboratory environment, induction chamber-anesthetizes up to 5 adult mice or 2 rats simultaneously, 5-port anesthesia manifold. An award will be made in fifteen (15) days from the date of this notice. Sources may submit a quote, which fully demonstrate their capabilities, which will be considered by the agency. A determination to compete this procurement based on a response to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. All responses or questions regarding this posting must be in writing and can be sent via email to Apagan@fda.hhs.gov. No phone calls will be accepted. This sole source procurement will be awarded as a simplified acquisition for commercial items in accordance with FAR Subpart 13.5.
