Description
THIS IS A COMPETITIVE SYNOPSIS WITH A SEPARATELY ISSUED SOLICITATION. The National Cancer Institute (NCI) Cancer Publications Branch (CPB) is soliciting for the services of a writer/editor for the support of NCI patient education materials. Duties include researching, writing, editing, proofreading, and revising patient education materials. An example of the type of NCI patient education publication is the twenty-five (25) English booklets belonging to the ?What You Need To Know About Cancer? series. This requirement will be procured in accordance with FAR 12, Acquisitions for Commercial items. The North American Industry Classification System Code is 541990 and the business size standard is $6.5M. This is a Total Small Business set-aside. Background: The NCI CPB is responsible for providing the latest, most accurate cancer information to patients, their families, the general public, and health professionals. The CPB translates technical cancer information, such as clinical trial results, into terms the public can easily understand. Contractor Requirements: 1) The contractor shall provide a writer/editor to research, write, edit, proofread, and revise patient education materials. Minimum Personnel Requirements: 1) A minimum of 5 years experience producing cancer-related publications in plain language for patients and the public, 2) A basic knowledge of cancer and experience in using Internet-based resources to obtain information, especially NCI resources, 3) A bachelor?s degree with a background in health science, oncology, or public health (epidemiology) and, 4) At least five (5) years experience with Microsoft Word. Period of Performance: Base year: September 1, 2006 ? August 31, 2007 with two (2) twelve (12) month options. This contract will be awarded as an Indefinite Delivery Indefinite Quantity (IDIQ) Firm Fixed Price (FFP) type contract. The minimum number of hours is 900 and the maximum number of hours is 1,800 for the base year and each option. Only one award will be issued. Request for Quotation: Estimated issued date of solicitation RFQ-NCI-60099-NG will be on or about July 17, 2006 with an estimated due date for responses on or about July 31, 2006.
