Description
This Request for Information (RFI) is the initiation of market research under Part 10 of the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR), and is not a Request for Proposals (RFP). The Government does not intend to pay for any information furnished pursuant to this RFI. The U.S. Army Aviation and Missile Research, Development and Engineering Center (AMRDEC) is responsible for the development and transition of missile and aviation technologies in support of current and future Army acquisition programs. The A MRDEC is seeking sources conducting research and development of missile and munitions related technologies that may be applied to capability solutions by the U.S. Army in the 2025-2030 timeframe. The AMRDEC is soliciting expressions of interest from U.S. industry, academic organizations, non-profit organizations and other government agencies regarding the creation of a Strategic Plan for missile technologies. The sources identified by this action, may or may not be selected for future incorporation into A MRDEC science and technology research and development programs. A strategic planning workshop is planned for August 2006 in Huntsville, AL. This workshop will contribute to the development of a missile science and technology strategic plan and establish a foundation for further planning for potential research and deve lopment projects. Due to space constraints and the need to ensure a balance of industry and government perspectives, participation in the workshop will be by invitation only. If you are interested in attending this workshop, please complete the short inf ormation questionnaire posted below and return it together with your organizations qualifications via email by 21 July to Dawn Gratz at dawn.gratz@us.army.mil. Questionnaire. To assist us in selecting the appropriate team to help shape this science and technology strategy, we are asking interested parties to respond to the following questions: 1) Is your company or organization currently researching, developin g or producing missile technologies for a DoD system or program? If so, please identify and briefly describe your program(s) or application(s). 2) In your opinion, what technical issues present the greatest barrier to providing your technology to curren t and future DoD Systems? 3) What technical topics might benefit most from creation of a strategic plan to guide collaborative, industry/government research and development of missile technologies? 4) What new or future missile technologies should the DoD pursue? 5) What missile technologies will be critical circa 2025-2030? 6) What skills and/or capabilities will be critical to develop those technologies and integrate them into defense solutions circa 2025-2030? 7) What technical area(s) do you r epresent Please provide any technology roadmaps with submittal of the questionnaire. Please provide contact information: Name, Organization Address, email address, and phone number. Responses to this RFI that indicate that the information therein is proprietary o r represents confidential business information will be received and held in confidence for U.S. Government use only. However, the AMRDEC intent is to help shape a broadly shared strategic plan from the aggregate of the inputs, and it is desired that infor mation provided from industry as a whole be nonproprietary. Point of Contact (POC) for this RFI is Dawn Gratz, (256)842-8769, dawn.gratz@us.army.mil. To schedule a meeting to discuss future research and development efforts in missile technologies that may be employed by the U.S. Army in the 2025-2030 timeframe, interested contractors may contact: Dawn Gratz, (256)842-8769, dawn.gratz@us.army.mil.
