- This is a Sources Sought (SS) announcement only. This synopsis is issued for the sole purpose of the Advanced Science and Technology Directorate (ASTD), US Army Aviation and Missile Research, Development, and Engineering Center (AMRDEC) to conduct m arket research for remote weapons stations. This SS should not be construed as a commitment by the Government for any purpose. The purpose of this notice is to investigate and then analyze remote weapons stations for use on unmanned surface (water) vehic les (USV) performing near-to-seashore, port, and brown water (riverine) reconnaissance, surveillance, bottom-mapping, and weapons engagement of targets in support of US Army operations. The remote weapons stations must meet or exceed the following specifications: 1. Inherent detection via visual and infrared sensors. 2. Inherent or capable of onboard integration of weapons (crew-served and/or missiles), simultaneously and separately. Engagement is remote, operator in the loop. 3. Interface control documentation (nondisclosures will be provided). 4. No less than three (3) axes of stabilization of station. Point stabilization preferred. 5. Autotracking of targets. 6. Marinized (or capability for marinization of components) and ruggesdized. 7. Capable of rotation to 360 degrees. 8. Capable of elevation +/- 40 degrees. 9. Desired Cost: No more than $500,000 (including engineering support). Other desired remote weapons stations characteristics: 1. Delivery of one-two systems for USV development within 9 months. 2. DC power (no less than 28 Volts). 3. Weight less than 300 lbs. 4. In-use and proven on aerial, ground, or water platforms. Responses to this SS should only include items that support all stated specifications in a commercially available configuration, or a configuration that could be made fully compliant through minor modifications. Responses to this SS must include the produ ct manufacturer, a product description with performance parameters, a statement regarding current availability, a statement describing any required modifications, and the estimated cost of the product including required modifications. Responses to this SS should also include cost (if any) to the Government to perform demonstration of the product at a location to be determined. Responses to this SS will not be returned. In accordance with FAR 15.202(e), responses to this notice are not offers and cannot b e accepted by the Government to form a binding contract. Responders are solely responsible for all expenses associated with responding to this SS.
