Description
The Naval Air Systems Command (NAVAIR) intends to issue a competitive solicitation for a flight demonstration and associated documentation for alternate source(s) for future production of Subsonic Subscale Aerial Targets (SSATs). The Request for Proposal (RFP) is planned for release in July 2006. Multiple awards are possible, subject to available funding. The period of performance is one year. Potential sources must have an existing production aerial target type vehicle that will meet the U.S. Navy?s requirements for a SSAT System, or can be cost effectively modified to meet all of the SSAT requirements. This is NOT a development effort. As part of the flight demonstration documentation, the effort will require submittal of a detailed technical description of the existing system, its current performance capabilities and support operations, previous testing data to ensure Range safety, and a complete description of the modifications, if any, that would be necessary to achieve full technical compliance with the U.S Navy?s SSAT system requirements. The successful offeror will perform flight demonstrations of the existing production aerial target type vehicle at the Naval Air Warfare Center, Weapons Division, Point Mugu, California. At the discretion of the successful offeror, the existing system demonstrated need not be fully compliant with the SSAT system requirements, however, it must demonstrate the system?s potential. Prospective sources should thoroughly review the SSAT System requirements contained in the SSAT System Requirements Document (SRD) to ensure that they understand the full requirements and have a potentially compliant, competitive system before bidding on the solicitation. The SSAT SRD will be available on-line at the PMA-208 web site: www.navair.navy.mil/pma208 under ?current events? on or before 14 Jul 2006.
