Description

These requirements are for a total of five motor operated multi-turn electric valve/gate actuators with gear reduction gear boxes and one spare actuator designed for the opening, closing and modulation of gates and valves. Each actuator/gear box combination unit will be capable of producing a minimum of 4500 ft/lbs of torque and have a thrust load capacity of 150,000 lbs. Each unit will be capable of providing a minimum of 216 gear box output drive sleeve turns which will equate to 6' of gate travel. The gear box output RPM will be no less than 12 and no greater than 20 at full load capacity. Each unit shall be supplied complete with motors, adjustable torque and turn limitations, 8' aluminum water tight stem covers, valve position indication, bronze drive stem bushing/nuts bored to 3", and all components required and necessary for a complete installation. In addition, the units will be supplied with steel adaptors to mount on to our existing Limitorque pedestals, (two SMA-3's and three SMC-4's) to provide a drive stem bushing/nut height of 8" from the top of the existing pedestals to the center of the bushing/nut plus or minus 2" with the top of the bushing/nut no higher than 13" above the top of the existing pedestal. As an alternative, the pedestal the equipment is mounted on can be replaced with the contractors equipment provided the same bolt pattern is used to secure the pedestal to the concrete deck (14" diameter circle to the center of the bolt holes which consist of four, equally spaced 1.38" diameter holes) and a base flange diameter of 17". In any case, the top of the stem nut can NOT be higher than 41" from the bottom of the pedestal and must bolt up to any existing equipment whether the contractor fabricates a new pedestal or chooses to use the existing pedestal. Each actuator shall be equipped with a side mounted handwheel for emergency manual operation of the gate. The manual operation hand-wheel shall be capable of operating over the full range of travel of the actuator. These actuators with the gear boxes will open and close existing 120" x 96" slide gates with a head of up to 35' above the top of the gate. The gates have a 3 ?" rising stem with a 3TPI single lead, right hand standard acme thread. The actuators shall be intelligent, non-intrusive type, suitable for use on a nominal 460VAC, three-phase, 60 Hertz power supply and are to incorporate motor, integral reversing contactor, local control facilities, analog position transmitter, and terminals for remote control and indication connections. The actuator shall include an autophase protection and correction device to ensure the motor runs with the correct rotation, for the required direction of valve travel, with either phase sequence of the three-phase power supply connected to the actuator. This device must prevent operation of the actuator if a phase is lost. It shall be possible to carry out the setting of the torque, turns, and configuration of the indication contacts without the necessity to remove any electrical compartment covers. These actuator/gear box units shall be Limitorque MX-140 actuator with an output of 77 RPM coupled to B320-70 gear box with a 6:1 gear ratio or approved equal.
