Description
NASA/MSFC has a requirement for a sponge blasting system. The system will be a Sponge-Jet model B-Vac Pro or an offering of equivalent capability. The system will be complete with all components required for use except media. The entire system will operate from a user supplied air delivery unit. The system will operate on a 125 psi, 750 CFM air supply. There will be no electrical supply required for operation. The system will consist of a feed unit, recycler/classifier unit, and a vacuum reclamation unit. These units will be interconnected in such a way as to enable the operator to load the system with media via a vacuum hose, use the system to blast a component, and then vacuum the waste media to use for reclamation or rejection. A 50? long blast hose with a 1/2? nozzle and dead-man switch will be included. The system will have a control panel with a single action emergency stop button, main air supply pressure gage, blast pressure gage, media supply pressure gage, blast and media feed pressure regulators, and a main air supply ball valve as a minimum. There will be a 2? air supply with a 4-prong air fitting and a water separator. This 2? connection will be the single-point pneumatic connection to the machine. All air regulation, distribution, and flow control will be engineered into the system. Any large volume air exhaust points, other than the blast feed, should have mufflers installed. The entire system will be integrated into one steel-framed package and will be capable of transport via forklift. The feed unit will have at least 14 cu ft of vessel volume with an auger feed system. The feed unit will be configured in such a way as to automatically refill from a hopper, and then reseal the pressure vessel via a pop-up valve. The pressure vessel shall be protected with an appropriate pressure relief valve. The recycler/classifier unit will process a minimum of 700 pounds of waste per hour. It will separate the vacuumed material via screens into large waste, small waste, and reusable media. The waste byproducts will be fed into two supplied 55 gal, steel waste drums. It must reject any material larger than the sponge media that could pose a hazard. The vacuum unit will have a suction capacity of at least 11? of Hg and 350 CFM. It will not produce more than 80 dBA during operation. It will include a HEPA filter and 50? of clear vacuum hose. Any proposal of an alternate system must be accompanied by a complete set of support documentation to support an engineering evaluation of the offer. The system must utilize media that consists of encapsulated abrasive material. Conventional sand or grit blasting equipment is not acceptable and will not be considered. System will be priced FOB destination. This notice is a combined synopsis/solicitation for commercial items prepared in accordance with the format in FAR Subpart 12.6, as supplemented with additional information included in this notice.
