Description

The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) intends to negotiate on a sole source basis with Veeco Metrology, Inc., Santa Barbara, CA under the authority of FAR 13.106-1(b) Only One Source Reasonably Available to acquire a 1-yr. extended warranty for one (1) SCDCL Dimension 3100 Atomic Force Microscopy System; specifically, the extended warranty will be implemented for a one (1) year base period with one (1) one (1) year option period and will include free repair or replacement of equipment, loaner parts and free factory shipping. As the original manufacturer, the Contractor is the only source offering: a) all required replacement parts for the instrument; and, b) a staff of fully trained technicians and engineers completely familiar with the instrument who can offer immediate assistance, ensuring minimal system downtime. A fixed price purchase order will be issued on or about July 31, 2006. Interested parties may identify their interest and capability to respond to the requirement, in writing, no later than the response date. Written responses to this synopsis shall contain sufficient documentation to establish a bona fide capability to fulfill the requirement. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed requirement based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. This notice of intent is not a Request for Quotation (RFQ) nor is it a request for competition.
